Before the Exam: Final Checklist

Before you head to the exam center on April 7, ensure you have these "Beforemath" essentials ready:

  • Mandatory Documents: You must carry a printed copy of your Admit Card and a valid Photo ID (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card, or Passport).
  • Date of Birth Proof: Your ID card must show the exact same Date of Birth (Day, Month, and Year) as printed on your admit card.
  • Discrepancy Backup: If your ID does not match, bring an original Class 10 certificate as proof.
  • Photographs: Carry two recent passport-size color photos (the same ones used in your application).
  • Scribe Details: If you are using a scribe, ensure they have their Scribe Entry Pass.
  • Scribe Registration: Note that all scribe registrations done before November 5, 2025, were cancelled and required re-registration using Aadhaar authentication.

Tier 2 Exam Pattern & Rules

The Tier 2 exam is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) that focuses entirely on your chosen engineering branch (Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical).

  • Total Questions: 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Total Marks: 300 Marks (3 marks for every correct answer).
  • Negative Marking: Be careful—1.0 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Calculators: You are not allowed to bring a physical calculator.
  • Digital Aids: A scientific calculator will be provided on-screen within the test system.
  • Allowed Aids: You may bring your own slide rules, log tables, or steam tables, provided they have no handwritten notes.

The Aftermath: What Happens After April 7?

The recruitment process doesn't end with the exam. Here is the expected timeline for the post-exam phase:

  • Answer Key (Mid-April 2026): SSC usually releases provisional answer keys within 5 to 10 days after the exam.
  • Objections: You will have a window to challenge any answers for a fee of ₹100 per question.
  • Result & Merit List: The final result is prepared by adding your scores from both Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  • Timeline: In previous cycles, the final result was released approximately three months after the Tier 2 exam.
  • Document Verification (DV): Qualified candidates will be called for Document Verification to show original engineering degrees, caste certificates, and experience certificates.
