In a recent move to support students, the BSEB has extended the registration deadline for the Matric Special and Compartment exams. Initially set to close earlier, school heads can now submit online applications for eligible students until April 10, 2026.

Key Dates for BSEB Matric Remedial Exams 2026

The examination cycle is designed to be completed quickly to ensure results are declared in time for intermediate (Class 11) admissions.

Eligibility Criteria: Special vs. Compartment Exam

The Bihar Board distinguishes between two types of examinations based on the student's circumstances.

1. Matric Compartmental Examination

This exam is for students who appeared in the 2026 Annual Matric Exams but did not secure passing marks.

• Failed Subjects: Students who failed in one or two subjects.
• The English Exception: If a student fails in three subjects but one of them is English, they are still eligible to appear for the compartment exam because English is not a mandatory passing subject for the overall division.
• Single Subject English: Students who passed the main exam but failed only in English can appear for this specific paper to improve their credentials.

2. Matric Special Examination

This is a corrective mechanism for students who were eligible but could not take the main exams.

• Technical/Medical Issues: Students who missed the February exams due to technical errors in registration, medical emergencies, or school negligence (e.g., the school failed to submit the form despite the student passing the "Sent-up" exam).
• Division Eligibility: Unlike compartmental candidates, special exam candidates are eligible to receive divisions (First, Second, Third) and all benefits equivalent to the annual examination.

BSEB Matric Compartment Fee Structure 2026

Fees must be paid at the respective school office. The total fee varies based on the student's category and the subjects chosen.

Additional Charges:

• Practical Exam Fee: Rs. 30 for subjects like Home Science, Music, Dance, or Fine Arts.
• Betterment/Single Subject Permission Fee: Rs. 200 for candidates appearing for "Betterment" or only English.

Syllabus and Examination Pattern

The syllabus for the compartmental and special exams remains identical to the 2025-26 Annual Matric Examination.

• Passing Marks: Candidates must score at least 30% in language papers and 33% in core subjects like Mathematics, Science, and Social Science.
• Question Type: The pattern consists of 50% objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 50% subjective questions.
• Duration: Each paper is 3 hours and 15 minutes long (including "cool-off" time).

Important Note: Students cannot apply individually on the BSEB website. Applications must be processed through the school principal using their institutional login credentials.

1. Contact your school principal immediately to express your intent to appear.
2. Provide the necessary documents: Registration Card, Aadhaar Card, Fail Web-Marksheet, and passport-size photographs.
3. Ensure your Unique ID (13 digits) is correctly entered on the form.
4. The school will fill out the form on exam.biharboardonline.org and process the fee payment.
